Pleasant Lake is located between the towns of Whitewater and East Troy in southeast Wisconsin, 225 miles (about 3 hours) from Iowa City. The lake is in a peaceful area of Walworth County, but just 20 minutes south you’ll find Lake Geneva, a premiere midwest tourist destination with a fabled history of “millionaires and mobsters.” The home’s location is convenient to a number of cities and airports, situated 90 miles northwest of downtown Chicago, 45 miles southwest of Milwaukee, and 55 miles southeast of Madison.
The area provides a broad range of opportunities for you to create the kind of vacation you want. Guests often find the property so relaxing and full of things to do that they realize a week went by and they never left except for groceries. Others will venture out often to enjoy all the outstanding restaurants and cultural and outdoor activities within 30 minutes. Some will even do day trips into one of the major cities. There is truly something for everyone.
Summer is prime time of course, but this is an all-season destination. Spring and fall are beautiful and peaceful, with plenty to do on the lake even if it’s too cold for swimming. The swimming season tends to run from about mid-May to late September, varying year to year of course and depending on individual tolerances. Winter offers the choice of hunkering down with the fireplace and venturing out to the hot-tub in the midst of pines laden with snow, or enjoying winter sports with the closest skill hill just 10 minutes away, groomed cross-country skiing trails even closer, and sledding and ice-skating on site.
